What is the Goverlytics feed?
A structured data feed of Legislative Attention, debates, votes and bills, compiled from official public records and built to drive broadcast, web and print graphics templates the same way weather and traffic data do. It is available in JSON, XML and CSV formats.
What is Legislative Attention?
Legislative Attention is the share of legislative and government activity devoted to a topic, measured through speeches, debates, committee proceedings, questions, motions, bills, reports and votes over a defined period. Unlike polls or media coverage, it measures what government is actually spending its limited attention on. Think of it as possession time for politics.
Why cover politics between elections?
Your audience's representatives vote all year. Goverlytics brings election-night data coverage to the whole season, with recurring features at a predictable, low production cost.
How is coverage organized?
By market area and topic. Goverlytics classifies speeches, debates, votes and bills by topic and ties them to the jurisdictions in your market area, so you get the politics your audience cares about.
How is the data delivered?
Data is available through API endpoints. Available delivery options depend on your service configuration.
Does it work beyond broadcast?

What if my jurisdiction is not covered yet?
Goverlytics is actively expanding jurisdiction coverage. You can request data coverage for a state, province, or country not yet in the standard catalog. Ask early if you need it in place before an election.
Is the data nonpartisan?
Yes. Goverlytics works from official public records, including votes, bills and legislative activity, and presents the data without editorial slant, so your newsroom keeps control of the story. Analysts from across the political spectrum have worked with Goverlytics data.
How is this different from hiring a researcher?
A researcher digs through public records for every story. Goverlytics has already compiled them and keeps them current, which brings down the cost of factual local reporting enough to make it worth covering every week.
Is Goverlytics only for media?
No. Like sports data, political performance data serves more than the broadcast. The same feed supports forecasters, prediction markets, researchers and campaign analysts. Tell us your use case and we'll discuss licensing.
Is this the same product as the Goverlytics mobile app?
No. The Goverlytics mobile app is a consumer product for following government activity. The Goverlytics feed is licensed separately for media, analysis and enterprise use.
